At MVPNS, parents work together in the classroom, on the projects that their committee jobs require, and on the fundraising events for the school. Bonds are created which last. One family helps another, and that family, in turn, is able to help a third. A living community is reborn each year, made up of returning families and new families. There is a mood of acceptance and caring which emanates from the teachers, and spreads among the families. For many families who are new to the area, this community is immeasurably valuable. The children take ownership, and talk about ‘my school’, and the parents share that attitude as well. MVPNS provides a variety of fun opportunities for families to get together and to know each other. A typical school year might include the following:
1. Family Picnic - Late September
2. Outdoor Movie Night-Mid-October
3. Halloween Costume parade- Late October
4. Down by the Bay 5k Run -Fall
5. Thanksgiving Stone Soup feast- November
6. Ice Scating at Winter Lodge -January
7. Kite Flying - Spring
8. MVPNS Auction - Spring
9. MV Downtown Spring Family Parade on Castro Street - April
10. Celebrating Parents Tea - May
